Hamptons Carrier Bags Have Raised £250 for Many Tears Animal Rescue

Not so many tears, thanks to the customers and friends of Hamptons Penarth

Father_&_Mrs_Christmas_with_Roxie_&_MillieAll of the money given for carrier bags at Hamptons has been donated to Many Tears Animal Rescue in West Wales. So far the grand sum of £250 has been raised.

Many Tears specialises in finding new homes for dogs that have been used for breeding and then discarded when they are no longer of any use. Most of the dogs arrive at Many Tears completely traumatised as they have never lived in a proper home with a family, they don’t how to walk on a lead, they haven’t been socialised and they are not house trained. Many are also sick or exhausted and the only life they have known is living in a crate, having litter after litter of puppies. Invariably these dogs can only go to a home where there is already a dog because they don’t know anything about normal dog life and need another dog to learn from.

Roxy and Millie, the Westies who will be known to many Hamptons customer, both came from Many Tears. Both had been used for breeding before being discarded by their owners. Millie in particular was in a very poor state. She was virtually bald, covered in sores and it took six months before she could walk properly on a lead. She also needed a new knee and is still frightened of open spaces. There are so many dogs like Roxy and Millie and donating the proceeds from carrier bag sales seemed a natural choice for Andy and Peter.

On Thursday 21st December Roxy and Millie made a return trip to Many Tears to present the cheque for £250 and to take a pile of blankets and towels that customers had also donated.

Andy and Peter would like to thank everyone who has contributed to Many Tears. All of the 5ps for carrier bags will continue to be donated to Many Tears and Hamptons also now has a collection point for unwanted blankets and towels. The home desperately needs these for bathing the new dogs as they arrive and for bedding.

Anyone who thinks they may be able to offer a home to a dog should visit the Many Tears website at www.manytearsrescue.webs.com
