Radio Road Show (Bro Radio – 98.1fm) 1.00pm

From 1.00pm Bro Radio will again host the Summer Festival Radio Roadshow from the stage in front of the Italian Gardens. We have the Samba Band and Rock Choir delighting the crowds with their unique talents. Then later in the day we have some fantastic local and hugely popular local bands; Brother Cubs, Open House, Funhouse and Session playing us into the evening and right up to the fireworks from the pier.

Children’s Rides and Funfair (from 1.00pm)

No celebration would be complete without fun fairs rides, trampolines, stalls and sweets for the children and we are no different. Vale Amusements will provide the entertainment throughout the afternoon and evening and have supported the Summer Festival for many years.

Esplanade (1.00pm)

The SAR Helicopter and our own RNLI have become the cornerstone of the event and will entertain the crowds again from 3.00pm.

Spectacular aircraft displays are lined up for Carnival Day (1.50pm)

As part of Carnival Day we have organised a display from the fantastically exciting Hawk. The Hawk Display team is the public face of Number 4 Flying Training School (4FTS) based at RAF Valley on Anglesey and their full time mission is to train the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy combat pilots of the future. The Hawk display exists to demonstrate the professional excellence of the RAF and promote recruitment to the RAF. The Hawk visited Carnival Day back in 2009 and became the talk of the town for weeks after and it is with this interest that we have requested it back for this year. Get your cameras ready.

Punch and Judy (2.00pm)

Punch and Judy shows will take place on the pier in the afternoon. There will be three shows each 25minutes long so make sure you check the times of the shows on the pier. Water Ski Display Water Ski Club Penarth Water Ski Club will again wow the crowds with their unique and exciting display routines. The club entertained the crowds at the very first Summer Festival in 1965 and have returned to Carnival Day in recent years with new disciplines like wake boarding, mono skiing and the race boats that tear up the waters off shore. What will they have up their wetsuit sleeves this year?

Downhill Derby

(from 4.30pm) The adrenaline soaked downhill derby will take place on Cliff Hill again this year to the delight of the crowds. Last year’s downhill derby was one of the best community events ever and captured everyone’s attention. The event was great fun for both spectators and drivers alike and we are now the envy of the Vale. The downhill derby has added another aspect to Carnival Day and this year’s event will again be captured on video and can be viewed via the Town Council’s new website atwww.penarthtowncouncil.gov.uk
